Woodpecker comes to life from the union of the typical materials of the mountains: the wood symbolizes the forests and wool represents the pastures.

To this union, Claudia Bernardi’s creative flair is added, embodying the fresh crispy mountain air that rejuvenates and transform. Woodpecker is a project born from the extensive experience in woodworking, passed down from generation to generation. It arises from the creative impulse to innovate, offering something unique and distinctive compared to what is commonly offered in the market.

Like the woodpecker, Claudia shares a passion for wood instilled by her father, a carpenter. After school, she would accompany him to the workshop, learning to observe, create, and imagine.

Because wood is not just a material to be worked with, but its details are scrutinized for the selection phase and then for enhancing them in the final object. This curiosity has led Claudia to see in the marks that time leaves on antique wood as drawings; like veins on which to let another passion flow, the one for the wool, developed while attending the State Art Institute of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The design that she sees is a geometric pattern, typical of the Native American populations, such as the Hopi, who reside in Arizona, within the larger Navajo Nation.

They are known as one of the most ancient cultures, which, like antique wood, tell a story, a testimony time passes and relives after each season, transforming what is around. Hopi, in fact, is the name of the first collection that gives the start of a new proposal in the Ampezzo valley.
